Network of Christian Counselors

Celebrating 50 faithful years of Christ-centered care

About the Network of Christian Counselors

The Network of Christian Counselors was founded in 1976 by Dr. Harold Wahking, who believed that while the tools of a professional counselor are valuable, they are most effective when paired with the insights of Christian faith. He taught that the power of God at work in our lives can bring healing, restoration, and transformation, creating a path for growth in our giftings and talents.

From its earliest days, the Network sought to serve the hurting by integrating professional counseling with a biblical worldview. Counselors established themselves in local church settings, offering care that addressed personal, emotional, and spiritual needs while encouraging growth within the body of Christ.

Today, the Network continues to provide a unique integration of psychology and clinical counseling skills within the framework of a Judeo–Christian worldview. Members share a commitment to addressing the issues of life with both professional expertise and a reliance on God’s truth.

In 2025, the Network celebrates 50 years of equipping and supporting Christian mental health professionals. What began in church-based counseling ministries has grown to include licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers, life coaches, pastors, and lay ministers – all united in their dedication to mental health, emotional well-being, and spiritual growth.

I had the opportunity to attend the Network of Christian Counselors seminar, and it was such a valuable experience. The sessions were insightful, encouraging, and a great time to connect with other professionals.
