“Surviving the Danger: Navigating the Minefields of Destructive Behaviors from the Narcissists We Love.”
Oftentimes the characteristics of Narcissist personality types are not revealed until we are deeply involved in a relationship with them. Many people struggle to live with the destructive patterns of behavior. We seek to keep the peace for a multitude of reasons, especially when children are involved.
The church has provided mixed messages to spouses in relationship with narcissists. Choosing whether to stay or go can be confusing and spiritually compromising. Those who leave the relationship often feel guilty when witnessing the same destructive patterns with their children, while struggling to heal from their own wounds and pain.
Regardless of where one may be in determining how to navigate through a relationship with a Narcissist, the damage can be traumatic and may impact one’s own sense of worth and identity and delay healing.
Join us as we explore, through the lens of scripture, the biblical position of narcissistic personality disorders and how we are to respond to the characteristic traits that are hurtful, wounding, and often life threatening. Understand the clinical profile of a narcissistic personality disorder in contrast to narcissistic traits that can be observed in others and examine the predisposing factors that feed narcissistic tendencies and alter one’s character and personality. Gain insights and strategies from a Judeo-Christian Biblical Worldview for counseling individuals and families towards healing from the abuse of a narcissist. Discover how to utilize an integration of biblical values and psychotherapeutic best practices in helping others navigate the minefields of destructive behaviors when living with a narcissist.
