Counselor Information
Information
I’m Chad Thompson, LCSW and Christian counselor in the Tampa Bay area, and I founded Calming Transformations Counseling to serve adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, religious or spiritual wounds, and the pressure to be “perfect.”
Many of my clients are believers who love God but feel stuck—caught between what they’ve been taught, what they’ve experienced in church or family settings, and what they’re actually feeling inside. I provide a safe, judgment-free space to process relationship anxiety, social anxiety, religious trauma, and questions about identity, worth, and faith.
My approach weaves together Christian counseling with evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, ERP, and trauma-informed care, along with creative interventions like expressive arts, storytelling, and cinema-based therapy. Sometimes we even draw from movie scenes to explore themes of redemption, courage, and calling—reminding you that your story is not over.
For clients who feel more comfortable moving than sitting, I also offer walk-and-talk therapy in local Tampa area parks, combining gentle movement, nature, and prayerful reflection.
I serve clients in person in Riverview and online across Florida, Utah, Idaho, and South Carolina. I have a particular heart for Christians, Latter-day Saints, and military families who may feel unseen or spiritually misunderstood.
If you’re longing for peace, clarity, and a deeper experience of God’s grace in the middle of your anxiety or spiritual pain, I’d be honored to walk with you as you rediscover hope and reclaim your God-given story.
